Abstract:

Empowerment means moving from enforced powerlessness to a position of power. Education is an essential means of empowering women with the knowledge, skills and self-confidence necessary to fully participate in the development process. Sustainable development is only possible when women and men enjoy equal opportunities to reach their potential.

DWMHA and OCHN Presents A Day Of Empowerment, Inspiration & Renewal For Women. This FREE Event Will Include A Continental Breakfast, Lunch, WorkShops, Exhibits, Raffle Prizes & Much More!

Objectives:

Define trauma

Identify methods of self-help

Use positive affirmations to promote self-worth

Suggested Participants: SUD Providers & Consumers, Case Managers, Social Workers, Professional Counselors, Addictions Counselors, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Administrator, and other stakeholders

Please note: Employees of private practices are not eligible to attend.

Pregnant and Parenting Women are a Priority for Admission to treatment services.

Continuing Education Information

-SOCIAL WORKERS:  6 continuing education credits are approved for this training. 

-SUBSTANCE USE PROFESSIONALS:   6 non-specific CEC hours are approved by MCBAP for substance use professionals, such as Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CADC) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CAADC).

 -LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELORS: 6 continuing education credits are approved for this event.  The DWMHA's Virtual Center of Excellence is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements.  The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects of the program. 

 -QUALIFIED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS (QMHP): These event hours meet the MDCH training requirement for QMHP staff. 

-TRAINING HOURSThis event will count toward the annual training hours required by most provider agencies.

However, for us to envision this alone, is not We are asking that each of you here today pledge to advocate in support of a stronger, more integrated, and better funded behavioral health system. This commits us all to a range of actions, including participating in coalition calls, engaging in national days of action, encouraging federal officials locally and nationally to pursue legislative initiatives to promote mental wellbeing, and providing consistent communication on mental health initiatives within local communities.
